Dimapur, June 30 (MExN): It is confirmed: the recently-floated 10th IR Naga battalion will be deployed to Jammu & Kashmir very soon. The latest ‘interesting’ development is that while the 9th IR battalion which was deployed in Chhattisgarh to flush out Naxals, will be arriving home to Nagaland in July, the 10th IR will be leaving for one of the scariest political hotbeds in Asia.
Nagaland Home Minister Thenucho, informing to be in Delhi when contacted, said no MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) has been signed yet. Queried on when the 10th IRB would be leaving for Jammu & Kashmir, he said they will be leaving for Jammu & Kashmir ‘”soon.” It was all he said. Refusing to comment any further, the Home Minster hung up the phone, hardly ten seconds into the conversation.
Officials from the state home department could not be reached for details. The state government continues to remain actively reactive over matters concerning the IRB and for obvious reasons.
