Dimapur, December 6 (MExN): The Naga American Foundation (NAF) announced the launch of its 2020-21 Dr Aryo Shishak Memorial Scholarships for all Naga/Naga-American students enrolled in higher education studies in the United States of America. In a press release on Sunday, NAF Secretary Justin Aier informed that the foundation would be awarding a total of four $500 scholarships during the 2020-21 scholarship period—two for undergraduate students and two for graduate students. “It is the foundation’s hope that these scholarship offerings will be of small assistance to the Naga student community in the United States,” the release stated. It informed interested candidates to submit an essay on their experiences as Naga/Naga-American students studying in the US. Previous applicants are encouraged to apply under the provision that they are not past scholarship recipients. The deadline to apply is 11:59pm (ET) on December 31, 2020. Winners will be announced by late January 2021. To learn more, candidates can visit nafconnect.net/scholarships.
The Dr Aryo Shishak Memorial Scholarships are named in honor of Dr Aryo Shishak, an early pioneer of the NAF, and a former president and board member of the organization. Dr Shishak passed away on September 24, 2017, and in October 2017, the NAF announced the renaming of its scholarships in memory of Dr Shishak’s decades-long service to the NAF and the Naga community in the US. To date, the NAF has awarded scholarships to 15 recipients.
