Dimapur, November 8 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN has alleged that a contingent of Territorial Army (TA) led by Col. Shikar stormed into the Naga Army Shongson Battalion camp and “straight away” shot at one of its cadres. According to a press statement issued by MIP, Pingyon, TA personnel shot at “Lt. Chongam,” the PRO of Shongson Battalion. However, the bullet missed him but prompted the Naga Army personnel to take immediate position for retaliation. The MIP stated that, however, on the instruction of their Commander “Lt. Col. Alam Tsudir,” 2 i/c, Shongson Battalion, the Naga Army did not resort to firing keeping in mind the ongoing Indo-Naga ceasefire. However, it stated that, “to teach a lesson to the unwarranted provocation of the TA, Commander Col. Shikar was physically roughed up and his service arms were captured.” MIP claimed that “In his (Col. Shikar) realization that it is not wise to fool around with the Naga Army, he apologized for having caused menace whereby, in good faith his arms were returned and along with some of his boys were set free unconditionally.”
