Powerfaith, a Christian band from Nagaland is receiving widespread acclaim for its dynamic music, with fans comparing its sound to international acts like Theocracy and Damn Yankees. Listeners have praised the group’s strong vocals, skilled guitar solos, and bold, energetic compositions, calling it a refreshing change from softer gospel trends.
Powerfaith premiered their latest original ‘I Am’ in their YouTube channel on April 20 last.
One fan remarked, ‘Absolutely love everything about you, lovely composition, vocals, and lead solo. It’s cool in a good way!’
Another highlighted the band’s powerful message, saying, ‘Taste and say that our Lord is good. What a wonderful proclamation! May God bless you all.’
However, some viewers urged the band to explore fresh visuals, noting that many Naga rock videos follow similar stage setups and lighting.
‘The song is good, but please shoot outside, something new would be refreshing,’ commented one follower. Others pointed out the need for more genre diversity in the local music scene.
Real-Life Miracle
The band shares that the new song is inspired by a real-life miracle, testifying to God’s mercy and healing power.
The track was born from a deeply personal moment when a believer cried out to Jesus for a loved one on the verge of death in a hospital and witnessed a divine intervention that restored life.
The song serves as both a declaration of faith and an invitation, proclaiming God as the Creator, King of kings, and Lord of lords, the only way, truth, and life.
Its lyrics urge listeners to “taste and see” His love, emphasising that without Him, life is but a fleeting shadow.
From Nagaland to France
In a proud moment for Nagaland’s music scene, Powerfaith has also achieved international recognition with their new song being featured on ‘Rock Attack Radio,’ in France. The track was showcased on the programme “Where the Promo Is,” marking a significant step in Powerfaith’s musical journey.
The band expressed overwhelming gratitude, calling the feat “beyond surreal”. “This is something we never expected — a band from Nagaland, India being played on an international rock radio show is beyond surreal,” they shared. Dedicating the milestone to divine grace, the band said, “All glory to God for opening doors we didn’t even know existed. His plans are always bigger than ours, and this surprise is a beautiful reminder of that.”
The band also thanked their supporters, saying, “To everyone who has supported us through the highs and lows — this is your win too. Thank you for believing in us.”
Now in their twenty-third year as a band, Powerfaith’s lineup includes Lipokzulu (guitars), Akumtemsu (bass), Chipanger (vocals), Lanutemjen (drums) and Sentiyapang (guitars).
