Nagaland state though not officially declared Christian state it is popularly known as a Christian State by the people and the world. Definitely there is a possibility of Christian engaging in politics there is nothing wrong with it we should choose a spiritual person in the government it is the aim of God to produce productive leaders who will guide his people in the right track if a Christian choose to involved in the politics he must pray hard to himself he need the guidance of the almighty to be prepared to this new endeavor.
The best way is with civility, sisterly and brotherly love which too often is not the way we do it. Most of us more than likely do not really form our political ideologies with God’s will in mind. Oh, we think that we do and we say that we do, but we don’t. When I have asked Christians why they vote Regional party or why they vote Central party they all imply that their Christian values mandate that they vote the way they do.
As Christians we must remember that:
1. God is in control. No political party and no individual is going to solve all of our problems.
2. No one party is going to always be right or always wrong
3. Our political leaders from all parties don’t always have our best interest in mind
4. You don’t go to heaven or hell because of your political affiliation
5. We shouldn’t form our opinions solely from what we hear, see and read in opinion columns, news programs and talk shows. We ought to do due diligence and develop our views and make informed decisions from facts
6. Even when we have the facts Christians will come to diverse conclusions
7. We many times must simply agree to disagree.
8. None of us has the wisdom or knowledge to tell others with 100% certainty for whom they should vote, we can at best only give our educated guess
9. We should treat those with whom we disagree with respect, decency and love.
Having said all of that I believe that we should vote and get involved in things that we can change. We should encourage others to get involved and be informed even if in doing so they come to conclusions with which we disagree. I believe that most Naga Christians today would criticize immoral and corrupted leaders and encouraged people to vote against him.
