Naga Council firm on ‘Naga Commission’

Dimapur, August 7 (MExN): The Naga Council along with its affiliated tribal units, women Hoho, DNSU, senior citizens and well wishers held a special meeting on 7th August 2010 at 10 AM in Naga Council office to further deliberate on course of action to seek redressal in the Naga commission issue. This was stated in a press note issued by Ntsemo Ngullie General Secretary Naga Council. According to the press note, after thorough discussion, the House unanimously resolved to firmly stand by the July 26 & 2nd August Resolution and await the Government to revoke its “impugned order of abeyance on Naga commission” till August 10, 2010 failing which the public under the aegis of Naga Council shall hold a general public meeting on 18th August, 2010 where it shall finalise necessary details for a suitable course of action for redressal. 

The House further reiterated the full legitimacy of the Naga Council stand in struggling to preserve the inherent Naga identity practiced by fore-runners and that “the advocacy for inherent Naga right and identity practiced by Naga Council since 1949 is neither opposition nor confrontation with administration whatsoever but democratic expression to restore what is right and just for Naga council”. In this regard the Naga Council informed that the necessary time and venue shall be informed through press. All affiliated tribes, Hohos, women Hoho, DNSU, former Councillors/officials, senior citizens, well wisher organizations are requested to be ready to attend the same positively.
