Naga council makes public appeal for peace

DIMAPUR, JUNE 7 (MExN): Consequent upon Meeting with the Deputy Commissioner Dimapur today, 7th June, in connection with the commotion arising at DC Court area today for obstruction of EPIC photography in the polling station 11 & 12 by public of Hill View Colony, Industrial Estate colony, Lengrijan and Aonok Firing range, the Naga Council in the interest of public peace, has appealed to residents in the vicinity to observe DC Dimapur Order dated 7th June, 2011 directing concerned colonies to refrain from preventing BLO (booth level officers) to perform their duties.
A press note from Savi Liegise and Ntsemo Ngullie, President and General Secretary respectively of the Naga Council further appealed to concerned leaders not to take leverage of the ongoing EPIC exercise to promote individual interest be it of own colony/village or by way of erecting signboards. Dimapur being cosmopolitan in character for all practical purposes, it is appealed to all concerned to observe and adhere to collective interest of all tribes while executing responsibilities during such an important exercise that comes once in a while.
“Further, we are to appeal to all contending parties that the good offices of the Naga Council are at public disposal in order to promote brotherhood and peace”, the press note stated.
