Dimapur, December 13 (MExN): With an attempt to strengthen the purpose of the Department of Tourism and the Nagaland Government’s mission to preserve, protect and promote our rich culture through academic debates and discussions, North East Christian University conducted its first cultural symposium on December 11.
The board themes under this category were Naga folklore and Oral traditions, Naga traditional customs, laws and beliefs, Naga history and Naga movement, Naga traditional dance forms and music, folk art and attires.
The panel consisted of Dr Temsurenla Ozukum and Dr Resenmenla Longchar, ICFAI- Dimapur, Dr Meyajungla Longchar, NECU, Dr Achanger Aier, St Joseph University, Yanbeni Yanthan, NU. Zhoto Tunyi, Patkai Christian College (Autonomous), and the eminent cultural artist Guru Dr Hesheto Y Chishi. Arenkala Kichu and Neisakuono Tungoe chaired the first and the second sessions respectively. Dr Ayangti Longkumer made the report as well as made the concluding remarks.
Dr Aienla, Coordinator of the symposium delivered the vote of thanks.
The session began with a prayer, welcome and introductory speech by Prof. Darlando Khathing, Vice Chancellor, NECU. The English honours students from St. John’s College and History honours students from Dimapur Government College along with faculty, academicians and some independent researchers were also present at the symposium.
