GOC 3 corps graces Hornbill Festival

Lt Gen Gopal R, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding 3 Corps today graced the cultural event (Cultural Connect) on day 9 of Hornbill Festival here at Kisama.
He was accompanied by his wife Rajashree Gopal. The visiting dignitaries were accorded a traditional welcome on arrival.
The General stated that he was honoured and delighted to be amongst the people of Nagaland for the 19th edition of Hornbill Festival and congratulated the people of Nagaland.
He described Nagaland as the land where race, rivers, ranges regulate the rhythm of life in addition to being the abode of honest and most hospitable people.
He said that the Naga culture is not only about colourful costumes, dances and songs but more so of the values of honesty, simplicity, hospitality and the great Naga warrior tradition.
He urged the people to preserve, promote and pass on this great tradition to the younger generation.
He also asked the people to take a pledge to ensure that peace, prosperity and progress returns to this pristine land. He assured the people that Assam Rifles and Army will leave no stone unturned to assist the people in achieving these noble goals.
He wished the people of Nagaland ‘Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,’ hoping that it will usher in peace and prosperity in the coming years.
