Naga Heritage Village, Kisama clean-up and tree plantation drive was taken up by the Angami Youth Organization in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland and NSS, Japfü Christian College on JUne 5.
Tourism department, Director, Duolo spoke on the importance of the day and why the UN General Assembly started the Practice of celebrating World Environment Day which has become a worldwide movement and has become a mainstay today.
Duolo said while we need fresh air, fresh water to survive, he said while taking part in the venture, we have to keep on planting trees which will give us the natural endowments for human beings to survive and for the sustenance of the future.
He asked to ponder on the future of our earth, where we have to start practicing a way to live and let live so that the future generation does not suffer because of our today. "We have to preserve, nurture our environment," he said.
Duolo also stressed on the need to propagate cleanliness as much as possible. He also lauded yeomen services of the people being taken up to preserve and educate our society. Duolo asked the people to become ambassadors of being conscious for our environment.
Over 200 tree saplings were planted and Kisama areas were also cleaned up by the volunteers. The programme also featured Miss Nagaland Niketuno Sechu.
