Naga Hoho-ENPO peace mission report surprising: NLD, Naga Region

Lahe Town, February 27 (MExN): While expressing happiness at the peace mission trip of the Naga Hoho and ENPO to Myanmar recently, the National League for Democracy (NLD), Naga Region, Naga Self-Administered Zone, Myanmar has expressed surprise over certain elements of the trip report.

The NLD, Naga Region was surprised that the report of the Naga Hoho and ENPO mentioned the former MPs as the incumbent ones though they are no more in the office since February 1, 2016.

A press release from NLD, Naga Region Chairman, Law Yone further termed it unfortunate that not a bit about the trip was informed to the NLD, Naga Region though it had been given the office since February 1.

The other surprising thing, the release mentioned, was that U Kyaw Min Swe, a Burmese, who has nothing to do with the Naga issue, was mentioned as emissary to NSCN-K.

“Not only we but also NSCN-K itself has no knowledge about Kyaw Min Swe as confirmed by the NSCN authorities,” the NLD said. “Naga public in the eastern part is also confused with such development.”

Meanwhile, the NLD, Naga Region said it understands that “Naga conflict is already complicated and the general public has been confused in the process while trying to solve the age old imbroglio.”

In light of this, NLD, Naga Region has already approached Aung San Suu Kyi and NLD Central Committee so that necessary steps will be taken accordingly with transparency and accountability, the release said.

NLD, Naga Region further said like Naga Hoho and ENPO, it is committed to ceasefire and peace in the region and has vowed to the public to work with Council of Naga Affairs (CNA) as CNA has been consented by the Naga public to facilitate the process. “However, we will not be part of the process that will further complicate and confuse the general public, which will further germinate undesired consequences in the future.”

NLD, Naga Region also cautioned the Naga Students' Organization (NSO), which “claims undeserving title as the apex body of the Naga students in Myanmar”, not to further complicate the issue but to work in unity and in collaboration with the genuine Naga student bodies operating in Myanmar and elsewhere.
