KOHIMA, MAY 7 (MExN): The Naga Hoho has mourned the death of Dr Andrew Clark, a prominent member of the Quakers on April 23 after a brief illness.
“On behalf of Naga people, the Naga Hoho sends our deepest condolences to Dr Andrew Clark’s family and the members of Quakers at this difficult time. We mourn with you and celebrate the extraordinary life of this remarkable man who devoted his life for peace and protecting the Nagas for a common home and future,” a press release from the Naga Hoho President, HK Zhimomi stated.
It recalled that Dr Clark had a heartfelt enthusiasm for the Nagas on several occasions. “He was a person who strongly advocated unity and reconciliation among various Naga armed groups. His unfathomable association and love for the Naga people will always be cherished in years to come,” the Naga Hoho stated.
The Naga Hoho remembered that Dr Clark keenly initiated an informal dialogue for peace and reconciliation over a dinner hosted by the Naga Conciliation Group; Quaker Peace and Social Witness at a friend’s house in London on October 19, 2011 during the visit of Naga Civil Society groups led by Naga Hoho to Belfast and London. The Naga people indeed have lost a great leader and a true friend, it stated.
