
Kohima, July 4 (MExN): The Naga Hoho and the Naga Public Organisation (NPO), the apex body of the Naga people in Myanmar (Burma), held a consultative meeting on July 4 at Hotel Japfu. The meeting was held in keeping with “our zeal and aspiration to share a common ground and interest and to build a cohesive Naga society across the Naga homeland,” stated Mutsikhoyo Yhobu, General Secretary of the Naga Hoho in a press release today. In order to “reach an understanding and to promote peaceful co-existence in all Naga inhabited areas,” the meeting proposed to have a larger consultative meeting in the later part of the year, comprising of Naga Hoho and its units in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur alongside the NPO, elected representatives to the Government of Myanmar and various Naga civil societies and leaders from all walks of lives. The Naga delegation from Myanmar (Burma) was led by NPO Chairman, Harti Yang Li, and General Secretary of the Naga Students’ Organization, Mankhat Konyak.
