DIMAPUR, MAY 5 (MExN): The Naga Hoho today stated that the Nagaland Government’s plan to impose a COVID-19 cess on fuel would make the lives of people “more miserable.”
A press release from the Naga Hoho communications cell while acknowledging the efforts of the State Government to contain the spread of the pandemic, however stated that the COVID-19 cess would impact the consumers of the state.
This decision will encourage illegal activities like hoarding of goods by unscrupulous business people which would ultimately result in significant rise in the prices, the Naga Hoho stated.
“In the name of fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, the state government is better advised to desist from adopting such anti-people measures,” it advised.
The Naga Hoho therefore urged the State Government to roll back its decision to impose Covid-19 cess on fuel.
