KOHIMA, AUGUST 2 (MExN): The Naga Hospital Kohima got a major uplift with the addition of the ICU on August 1. The project was funded by the North East Council Government of India with a total amount of Rs. 4.55 crores of which 10% was contribution by the State government. The entire project was initiated and supervised by the Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima and was completed on July 20 and I. Mani Shankar Aiyar Union Minister GOI inaugurated the new ICU here at Kohima accompanied by the CM and other VIPs.
The Chief Guest remarked that he was “honored to have been invited to the Critical Care unit of this magnificent hospital. My heartiest congratulations to the people of Nagaland. May you have a glorious future!”
Dr. L Angami Managing Director, Naga Hospital Authority in a release said that the Naga Hospital Authority had stressed on the importance of an Intensive and Cardiac Care Unit and also emphasized on the limit and potential of Health-care Delivery System in Nagaland. Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima has got all the requested equipments from Stationary Ventilators, Infusion Pumps, Central Monitoring – Invasive and Non Invasive, USG/ Doppler, ECHO, from wheel chairs to modern equipped-ambulance, from Trauma Care Trolley to Alpha Electric-Mattresses and etc. to mane a few, in-order to make a patient comfortable and also importantly to see the smooth functioning of the new ICU.
Naga Hospital Kohima dating back to 1905-06 first started as a dispensary with 10 beds only and gradually now it has turned into the premier hospital in the State with the status of “referral Centre” with a strength of 300 beds and 17 different specialties including super-specialists, catering to health needs of not only the whole Nagaland but also its neighbouring States. The Naga hospital was also granted “Functional Autonomy” by the Government of Nagaland on April 1, 2004.
