The unique Naga identity is never to be surrendered under any circumstances, stated Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Kewezu G. Kenye, while inaugurating the party office of NPF 17th Chizami A/C here this morning.

Kenye said that the party must stand by its commitments, among others, to facilitate a solution to the protracted ongoing Naga political issue.

Kenye, who is also the NPF secretary general, said that despite much vicissitudes of politics and change of nomenclature a few times, the NPF as a party has remained intact with the same constitution, motto and symbol of “Cock”.

The party has been for a lasting solution to the long pending Naga political issue, he said. Dwelling briefly on the history of the Naga struggle, Kenye said that when the public is not informed fully, then suspicion abounds, but he insisted that “we can hammer out our differences through discussion and non-violent means.”

Kenye, who is also from 17th Chizami A/C, further lauded the women wing, youth wing and other party frontal organizations, for their continuous cooperation and support.

He exhorted them to make more efforts as the next general election is due in about 18 months.

Parliamentary Secretary for Higher & Technical Education, Deo Nukhu, an elected representative from 17th Chizami A/C, said a party-based government depends on the performance of the party workers. He called upon all party units to remain united from village level up to the state level as such will keep the party strong at all times.

Kelhizulo also spoke on the occasion. The function was chaired by Hürüda Rahuyi, president, NPF 17th Chizami A/C, while welcome address was delivered by Rarüveyi Swüro, general secretary, NPF 17th Chizami A/C. Folk songs were presented by NPF units of Pholami and Zhavame village. Vote of thanks was proposed by Salonyi Krocha, vice president, NPF 17th Chizami A/C.
