‘Naga issue is political’

Dimapur, June 23 (MExN): The ‘ato kilonser’ of the “GPRN/NSCN” N Kitovi Zhimomi on June 22 is said to have invited and interacted with civil organizations of the Sumi community. A note from the ‘publicity cell’ of the “GPRN/NSCN” said Zhimomi met with the western Sumi GBs, pastors, village elders and members of the Western Sumi Hoho, Western Sumi Kukami Hoho, Western Sumi Totimi Hoho, Western Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu and Western Sumi Students’ Union. The publicity cell, “GPRN/NSCN” informed that ‘more than two thousand invitees’ turned up for the interactive session.

According to the note, he appreciated the contribution and commitment of the “western” Sumi towards the “righteous” cause of the Nagas. Making his stand clear before the representative of the western Sumi people, Zhimomi informed the gathering that the Indo-Naga issue is a political issue and so only a political solution acceptable to the Nagas shall be pursued.

“He said that this must be very clear and there should not be any confusion on this issue,” the note said.  The need of the hour, however, is unity of the Nagas irrespective of tribe or region; the fullest cooperation towards the process of reconciliation and unity initiated by the Forum for Reconciliation is the “testimony” of the “GPRN/NSCN” ‘commitment towards the journey of common hope,’ it asserted.

Zhimomi appealed to the western Sumi people to be firmly on guard against “wrong politics” and “impractical ideologies”. Zhimomi also cautioned “erring officials” whose actions “contradict common desire of the Nagas to change their ways”. The “interactive session” ended with the adoption of a resolution  supporting the ‘unification’ of all Nagas. The resolution also reaffirmed full support to the Forum for Naga Reconciliation towards achieving unity and reconciliation, the note added.
