‘Naga issue must be solved politically’

Dimapur, June 18 (MExN): The “commitment of Mahatma Gandhi to let the Naga’s live as free, sovereign independent nation has been undone by the so-called champion of Indian democracy,” “general” Nikki Sumi of the “GPRN/NSCN,” said today in a press note. The group lamented that former Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal contravened “Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of free democratic state” and dispatched Indian Armed Forces to contain Naga “nationalism.”

“General” Nikki Sumi mentioned in the note, one “Lanu Imchen” who the group accused of “anti-Naga ideology.” “At this crucial juncture when both the entity i.e. the government of India and the Nagas have agreed to pursue political settlement, and though a faceless person by the name of Lanu Imchen propagating anti-Naga ideology, thereby desperately trying to undermine hard earned peace, still the issue is political and therefore shall be solved politically” the note stated.

“When the Indian leaders themselves has at several instances proclaimed that Indo-Naga issue is political, why Indian puppet like Lanu Imchen or any other Nagas as the case may be should voice their negative concern. Be it known that such elements should seek self exile from the Naga’s soil and so their generations accordingly” the note said.

The note claimed that the “excess committed by Naga national forces has nothing to do with Government of India.” It rationalized that the grievances “is internal in nature and shall be corrected internally, whereas seeking external forces to intervene in our internal affairs is but an open invitation to our adversary to further consolidate their subjugation over the Nagas”.
