Kohima, April 23 (MExN): The Naga Kuotsu Union held its 16th general conference at Sechü Zubza Council Hall on April 22 last.
The conference was hosted by Sechü Zubza Kuotsu Unit. Descendants of Kuo-u from Nagaland, Manipur, and Assam participated in the conference. Kovor Kuotsu and Dr. Neilasa Sopfu Kuotsu were the main speakers.
In his speech on the topic "Kuotsu Yesteryear," Kovor Kuotsu dwelt on the glorious life of Kuo-u, stating that he was a man of hard work who became rich and host feasts.
He affirmed that Kuo-u was a great warrior and a religious man who had a concern for the security and safety of his children. Kovor urged Kuo-u descendants to live up to the legacy of their forefather Kuo-u.
Dr. Neilasa Sopfu Kuotsu, IG, Fire & Emergency Services, Nagaland, while delivering on the topic "Kuotsu Tomorrow," specified the roles and responsibilities of each age group and urged everyone to strive their best to become successful and support each other in all possible ways. He also urged the youth to focus more on entrepreneurship and skill development as government jobs have reached saturation point.
Vitsulie M. Kuotsu, Vice President of NKU, led the programme while Jakho Kielienyu Kuotsu, Chairman of Deacon Board, Sechii Zubza Baptist Church pronounced invocation prayer.
Kezhalelie Miasalhou Kuotsu, Convenor Host Committee, delivered welcome address. Ravolhuto Whiso Kuotsu, president NKU, highlighted the achievements of the Union during the last 3 years and stated that the Kuo-u descendants were spread across 78 villages. The conference witnessed special songs from Lekie Kuotsu and Zapami Kuotsu units. Pfukeduo Sopfu Kuotsu, NKU General Secretary, presented the NKU report from 2021-2023.
Er. Neisievilie L. Kuotsu, Convenor of the Search Committee declared the new team of office bearers for 2023-26 with Peter Kuotsu from Zhadima village as the new president and Rajuselie Lhousa Kuotsu from Mezoma village as general secretary.
Vote of thanks was delivered by Neitho-o Kuotsu, Joint Secretary NKU, followed by the benediction by Rev. Dr. Acalie Miasalhou Kuotsu, ES, ACRCC.
