Kohima, June 7 (MExN): The Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA), Kohima has condemned the physical abuse of a minor child allegedly by Dr Vibino Sabina from Khonoma village and currently residing in Jotsoma.

NMA in its statement said “it pains to know and learn that our society continues to witness such cruel acts and is unimaginable when done more so by educated people. This calls for every right thinking individuals and responsible leaders from all sections to educate and advocate on rights and safety of every citizen, especially vulnerable children.”

Meanwhile, NMA has extended appreciation to the Principal and staff of Government Higher Secondary School, Jotsoma for taking the role as a first responder and willingness to rescue the child to a place of support and safety through Child Welfare Committee.

Time and again we must remind ourselves, we are the guardian of our children and we are duty bound to protect their interest at large, the association stated.

It also stated that Child HelpLine 1098 continues to rescue, protect and educate the mass on the safety and rights of children and “we must take a call where the dignity of children is at all times, protected.”

“We pray and seek the competent concern authority to deliver justice to the child and extend all help to safeguarding the rights of children and healing to the traumatized experience that the child had to endure. We trust and have faith the justice system will leave no stones unturned to get to the bottom of the case to find the truth and deliver judgment as per the law,” NMA added.
