Naga Political Issue: Centre’s representative meets NSCN (K) Collective Leadership

Dimapur, February 22 (MExN): The Collective Leadership of the NSCN (K) held a closed-door meeting with AK Mishra, the representative of the Government of India (GOI), in Dimapur on February 20 to deliberate on the Naga political issue.

A press statement issued by MIP, NSCN/GPRN (Khango-Hokato Vusshe) stated that during the meeting, the Collective Leadership apprised Mishra on stance of the NSCN (K) and the Naga National Political Alliance (NNPA), emphasising “the aspiration of the Nagas, for an early amicable and honorable solution, one that includes all the stakeholders.”

Mishra was briefed on the “present Naga political landscape which has shifted from the focus on sincere implementation of the existing agreements to a struggle over ownership and legitimacy. This ambiguity has perplexed the Nagas and the NNPA.”

To ensure an inclusive solution, the NSCN (K) on behalf of the NNPA reiterated its stance, as expressed to the representatives of GOI in the previous official meetings, that “NNPA will present its own “Charter of Demands”/Competencies that would be a crucial part of the proposed “Common Draft.””

‘The NSCN (K) categorically emphasised that the “Competencies” should be agreed upon by the Government of India by sitting across the table for any further steps to be executed for the final solution,’ it stated.
