Dimapur, March 22 (MExN): The ‘68th Naga Republic Day’ was celebrated on March 22 at Cepho Camp Chakhesang region.
The event marked a significant milestone in the history of the Naga people, commemorating their struggle for self-determination and the formation of the Naga Republic, maintained a press release received here.
The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the Naga flag, symbolising the sovereignty and identity of the Naga people, amid patriotic songs and chants, invoking a sense of unity and pride among the attendees, it said.
In their speeches, NNC President Thepushuyi Keyho and FGN President Gen Retd TM Rhakho and dignitaries emphasied on the significance of the Naga Republic Day and the ongoing “struggle for peace, justice, and self-determination,” the release informed.
They also highlighted the importance of preserving Naga identity and heritage while striving for progress and development, it added.
The contributions of freedom fighters and leaders who played pivotal roles in the Naga independence movement were acknowledged and honoured during the event.
Calling the celebration a “resounding success,” the NNC/FGN also extended gratitude to all the organisers, participants, and volunteers who contributed to making the event a memorable and meaningful occasion.
