Professor Suan also encouraged the research scholars to go for top-notch journals that provide excellent peer reviews. Focusing on the writing of dissertations, Dr Kailash, in the second session spoke about the need for clarity in framing research questions stating that fussy thinking results in fussy writing.

He mentioned that it was important for a research scholar to learn how to strike a balance between the real world and the scholarly world, by maintaining simplicity in one’s writing without losing sophistication.

He also added that one’s dissertation needs to be worthy of the degree he or she is awarded with.   While both stressed on brevity, the resource persons also encouraged the students to keep thinking, remain patient and determined in their pursuit of research as a life-long process.

A total of 25 Naga research scholars from the University of Hyderabad, and the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) participated in the day-long workshop.
