Kohima, November 2 (MExN): The Leader of NPF Legislature Party and Co-Chairman UDA, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu lamented that the Naga society is not progressing due to lack of self-sustenance. ‘If every individual is self-reliant and self-sustaining in the community, there will be peace and harmony,’ he asserted.
Azo was speaking at the 2nd general body meeting of the women self help group, Phek Block Level Federation of Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) at Phek town hall on November 1, Press Bureau, NPF Central Headquarters stated in a press release.
Expressing dismay over the Nagas being dependent and not working hard, he stressed on the need for every individual to work for self-sustenance, ‘unless each individual is independent and depend on others, the society will never progress,’ he stated.
The NPF leader expressed happiness over the Naga women that with the advancing age, the women are going at par with its counterpart men folk has said that in many field, women are doing excellent than men as they are more sincere and dedicated.
Stating that he is impressed to see the improvement of womenfolk’s status after introduction of Self Help Group, he lauded the various schemes and programmes provided by the Government and particularly the State Rural Livelihood Mission, where many womenfolk were now independently working and sustaining the whole family through this programme.
He observed that the dedicated and sincere women are going ahead of men and many families are seen sustained by the women.
Exhorting the womenfolk in the programme, the NPF leader called upon them to put God first and work with honesty and dedication then they will progress and encouraged them to continue to work towards self sufficiency, be self dependent and work towards self reliance.
He was of the view that, when the whole society is self reliant then the society will be corruption free. And dwelling on clean election, the Co-Chairman said that it has to start from individual and community and the corruption that we talked about in the Government system, the public also attribute to that cause.
DRDA Project Director, Razukhru D Vasa who also spoke on the occasion said that under the NSRLM many women became independent and with this programme, many menfolk were now dependent on women.
He expressed happiness over the progress of women status due to SHG programmes and mentioned that the NSRLM is one of the best programmes for the upliftment of women. He also lauded the Phek Block Level Federation where 22 villages were under it for utilizing the schemes in a proper way.
Short speeches were delivered by Zhalie Puro, ADPM NSRLM Phek and Heipeuding Ilunglung, BDO cum BMM NSRLM Phek.
Later, Azo also unveiled the rostrum of the new playground of Phek Basa village.
