All the best brains in India is in a dilemma as to how to break the present impasse. Team Anna is against corruption, Govt. Is against corruption and people are against corruption. Actually the answer is quite simple - a La-Naga style. Naga society has evolved itself into a unique state due to our magnanimous nature. Our magnanimity is such that the little ‘give and take’ here and there is not corruption, but good mannerly behavior. This nature of ours is usually taken for granted, but if one were to give a careful observation, we are so magnanimous with each other that we share everything according to our positions and our social standing.
In short, it works so well that each take (or cuts) accordingly from top to bottom and everyone is happy. ‘To each according to his/her capacity, to each according to his/her needs’. Isn’t this real life Marxism in its pure form? So, what the Indian Society need to learn, is our simple accommodative nature of give accordingly and take accordingly instead of getting a cockeyed view of this ‘good mannerly behaviour’ and giving it an ominous name ‘Corruption’.
Emphasizing on what the Indian Society at large can learn from the Nagas- Team Anna and all the activists should first learn to avoid and ignore, if not delete, the word ‘Corruption’. This word is almost foreign to the Nagas if not for the exercise in academics. For the Nagas the ‘Scoops’ here and there, as mentioned earlier, is just a part of sharing everything from top to bottom. Therefore, we only have words like ‘Cuts’ ‘processing fees’ ‘departmental deductions’ ‘office deductions’ etc. There are instances of even 40% deductions and yet we remain ever magnanimous and so, that God forbidden ‘word’ does not creep into our vocabulary. Hence, there is contentment all round and none of us has to suffer hunger as Anna Hazare.
Summing it up, adopting the Naga positive mindset by Anna and his supporters is the quickest way to solution. Had this been done earlier, Anna would have been leaning back relaxed, telling stories to his grandchildren instead of suffering hunger for the past 9-10 days or so – poor Anna! Of Course Aggrieved Teachers, Ad hoc Teachers etc. is causing a minor hiccup in our smooth sailing. Not to worry however, because our Naga ingenuity and magnanimity will come up with an answer. So lets all be proud and happy that we are Nagas because, we have the answer!
