Naga student launches new eco-friendly pencils

Dimapur, June 4 (MExN): On the eve of World Environment Day, Keneisezo Thomas Belho, a post-graduate student in the Department of Sociology, St Joseph’s College (Automonous) Jakhama displayed an exemplary proactive action towards protecting the environment and promoting eco-friendly products in Nagaland.

On Saturday, Belho launched ‘KENBEL Pencils,’ which are made using old newspaper prints. According to a press release, KENBEL (Kenei/ Ken means happiness in Angami dialect and Bel is a short form of Belho) Newspaper Pencils are produced under the collaborative partnership between Keneisezo Thomas Belho and Swissco Techno Inc., a Gwalior based manufacturing company.

The products were officially launched at the Department of Sociology, St Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama by Assistant Professors Dr Khobu Tsolo, Dr Hormila G Zingkhai, and Lorence Ngushe and Japakali, the Class Representative and Vice-class Representative of MA (Sociology) 4th Semester, the release stated. 

As per the release, Belho stated that it was a childhood dream to start something new but he had never imagined that it would turn into a reality. However, since he joined the Department of Sociology at SJC, he was inspired to contribute back to the society by creating solutions to existing problems. 

With the zeal to encourage the use of eco-friendly products and to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship among the Naga youth, this enterprising young student and his brand KENBEL is an inspiration for all to embark on acts that will protect our environment on which our vey lives depend and especially for the young and the youth to became a self-dependent generation, the release stated. KENBEL, it added, was “a dash of happiness for all the users, eco-friendly lovers and it gives a glimmer of hope to both the young and the old of a brighter, safer and prosperous Nagaland.”
