Naga students are disciplined: Prof Konwar

Morung Express News Dimapur | April 22   Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, Prof. B.K. Konwar has categorically said that Naga students were the most disciplined students he has come across in the country.   According to Prof. Konwar, the disciplined nature was accompanied by cheerful smiles and being articulate in expressing their thoughts. He encouraged the students to harvest their articulate nature to lift themselves to greater heights.

Speaking as the chief guest at the 3rd Graduation Celebration of Mount Mary College, Chumukedima on Friday, Prof. Konwar said that more than 45 lakh graduates were being produced in India annually and pointed to the issue of unemployment.   He said Nagaland lacks any industry that could offer employment opportunities on a large scale. However, pointing out that the state was endowed with lots of minerals and other natural resources, the VC wondered as to how on earth employment opportunities can be created when the resources were not used for the benefit of man-kind. Prof. Konwar said the common practice of shifting cultivation, the harvest of which is dependent on nature, was not producing enough food, and hence there was no proper and stable earning.   The VC encouraged the students to be confident, hard-working, have conviction and become achievers in any field whether big or small.   Principal, Mount Mary College, Chumukedima, C. Teeya Imsong exhorted the students to be focused in their goal by ignoring negative criticisms.   Altogether 98 students from Arts and Commerce Stream graduated from the college.
