Dimapur, November 23 (MExN): The Naga Tribal Union Chümoukedima Town (NTUCT) erstwhile Tribal Union Chümoukedima Town held its 12th general body meeting at CTC Hall on November 19. All the representatives of the Naga indigenous tribes within its jurisdiction as well as special invitees and EAC Chümoukedima Thejavizo Nakhro attended the meeting.
NTUCT, General Secretary, Bendangwati Sangtam in a press release stated that the meeting adopted its First Reviewed Constitution Amendment and the six point resolution. The TUCT unanimously re-affirmed the ten point resolution adopted at the public rally on October 5, 2017 empowering the TUCT executive to fully implement them in letter and spirit. The Union resolved to render support and co-operation to the demand of the NSF and JCPI that the State Government strictly enforced the ILP Act and also demand to bring Dimapur district under ILP zone. Further, it resolved to support and co-operate with the TUCT in the ongoing drive against the rampant sale of illegal IMFL and all sorts of banned drugs within its own jurisdiction.
During the Business Hour, the house resolved to continue with its blanket ban on sale of liquor both country and foreign liquor as well as banned drugs, to keep vigil upon some young teenagers jogging early in the wee hours and thereby indulging in immoral activities as well as abusive substances and also warn the parents to keep vigil on their ward/children and also to check shops, butchers etc in regards to expiry goods, illegal/banned goods taking prior permission from the concerned office.
Earlier, the meeting was chaired by its President, Lhousito Khro, Rev Dr Tali Jamir, Associate Pastor, NPBCC invoke God's blessing and the Yimchungru Surale Cultural Society presented folk song followed by short speech by the EAC. The secretary report was read out by the General Secretary.
NTUCT also awarded the Governor's Awards to Best Student, Best Local Entrepreneur and Best Social Worker which was won by Yangerjungla Ao (Topper of HSLC 2017-18 from Chümoukedima), Sunep Ao, proprietor of G Sports, Chümoukedima and Pekru-u Shuya, Ward No 2 respectively .
