“Naga united village” on eviction

Dimapur, June 19 (MExN): Even as a village headman from Inavi village disclaimed “united Naga village,” a clarification appended by the latter’s ‘council’ was received today “to clarify its particulars”. According to the “Naga united village council” chairman’s claim “Naga united village” was established “in 1968, adhoc recognition in 1987 and fully recognized in the year 1992”. Claiming that the ‘village’ falls “under the administrative jurisdiction of EAC Chumukedima, Dimapur district,” the note said it “has no hand in that controversy”.

Another press note appended by the “Naga united village council” sought justice on the “Naga united village evection” and affirmed that the Intangki park belongs to the government of Nagaland and that the NSCN (IM) “eviction drive” is unlawful.  As the Intangki Reserved Forest belongs to the Government of Nagaland, under the Forest department, the recent eviction “of the Naga united village” on June 16-17 by NSCN (I-M) cadres “is not the right action and regarded as unlawful,” it stated.

The “Naga united village council” stated that “many officers among the NSCN (IM) did not know the programme of such eviction” and “the result is not known, but the Hebron women folks had extended some materials support to the evicted needy but the villagers refused to accept, saying that the attack was enemy action in nature as the two women got the bullet injury and Dao injury, in the hands of NSCN (I-M) cadres and so Naga traditions do not permit to accept anything from the enemy till reconciliation”. The ‘village’ also denounced the Naga Hoho’s statement earlier which expressed opinion “about the traditional boundary and accusation on the victimized people by branding us as ‘unscrupulous people.’”
