DIMAPUR, JAN 18 (MExN): While condemning all acts of violence and killings being perpetrated unabated by the law enforcing agencies particularly the Assam Rifles in the recent past in the guise of maintaining “law and order”, the Naga Women’s Union, Manipur (NWUM) and
Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR), Southern Sector have taken exception to the manner of brutal killing of 4 (four) NSCK (K) cadres namely (i) Rockson (ii) Dahrii (iii) Jonah and (iv) Sapuni on January 5th, 2006 by the personnel of 14 Assam Rifles at Chandraman village located near Kalapahar, Senapati District.
“It was confirmed without any reasonable doubt that those four slain cadres of NSCK (K) were first captured by the KNF- an old ally of NSCK (K) and later on killed in a stage managed “fake encounter” by the troops of 14 Assam Rifles”, stated a press communiqué issued by Grace T. Shatsang, President NWUM and SNG Phamhring Convener, NPMHR both Southern Sector.
“We cannot simply accept this kind of unjustified killings by the Indian Army even during the observation of well defined “Ceasefire Agreement” with the two factions of NSCN since 1997 and 2001 respectively. We would like to question the logic of killing Naga Army can be justified by the Indian Army and not violated the ground rules of Ceasefire whereas on the other hand when Naga Army inflicted such acts upon the Indian Army it was construed as ‘Criminal Acts’ and ‘Violation of Ceasefire?”, it further stated.
Stating that the Indian Army was not above the law of the land, and therefore, they cannot go on deciding according to their wishes and whims that who should be gunned down and who should be allowed to live.
