Naga wrestlers to take part in 9th National Traditional Wrestling & Pankration C’ship

The Nagaland contingent left Kohima for Goa today to take part in the forthcoming 9th National Traditional Wrestling & Pankration Championship 2021 scheduled to be held from October 29 to 31.

The Nagaland contingents under the aegis of the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) consist of 18 players and 2 officials.

The Championship will be conducted under the aegis of All India Traditional Wrestling & Pankration Federation (AITWPF).

NWA conducted a brief programme here this evening before the departure of Nagaland contingent from Kohima and wish them safe journey and all success.

NWA President, Dr Hiabe Zeliang asked the contingents to have a pleasant and acceptable conduct during their journey as well as in the play field. He believed that they will perform well and come back with medals. They will participate in belt wrestling as well as MAS event in different categories.

The wrestlers from Nagaland include Venuzo Dawhuo, Mezivil Kiso, Vekutho Soho, Kevizhakho Suokhrie, Seyiejalie Gwirie, Keneiselie Khawakhrie, Rokokehie Khawakhrie, Vevotso Lase, Rokovotuo Khawakhrie,  Vizoseu Metha, Kutho Luruo,  Bongtang Phom, Yimkum Sashi, Thechamo Murry, Itingchi, Vekhonielu Curhah,  Dukholu Vadeo, Mitwatei, Keduvilie Zumu and Surhoneyi Soho.

Vekhonielu Curhah is the lone female participant.

Mitwatei Hegwang and Dukholu Vadeo will lead the team as officials. Surhoneyi Soho will partake in MAS wrestling, who will also officiate belt wrestling event as referee.

Keduovilie Zumu will be the Nagaland contingent’s coach, who will also join MAS wrestling.
