Naga wrestlers win bronze in international belt wrestling

Kohima, June 18 (MExN): Wrestlers from Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) – Keduovilie Zumu and Nlumrai Hegwang have won bronze medals at the International Sports Festival - ‘Pearl of Kyrgyzstan’ (belt wrestling) held at Cholpan, Ata Kyrgyzstan.

Informing this in a release, NWA President, Dr Hiabe Zeliang and General Secretary, Vilekho Bio said that Hegwang participated in under 80 kg category and Zumu in 80+ kg category representing All India Traditional Wrestling & Pankration Federation (AITWPF) at the International Sports Festival, which concluded today.

Both of them, also part of the Nagaland DGP Sports Team, have secured bronze medals in their respective categories, the NWA said.

Around 10,000 sportspersons from 30 countries are participating in the sports festival which has more than 30 different sports disciplines with Judo and Belt Wrestling as the main events, they said.

Meanwhile, the NWA congratulated Zumu and Hegwang on their achievement in the discipline of Belt Wrestling in the VIth International Festival “Pearl of Kyrgyzstan” Championship.

Further, the Senior Vice President of AITWPF has extended warm congratulations to the two wrestlers and NWA on behalf of the Federation for making the country proud.

The two medalists will arrive Nagaland on June 21 and their felicitation programme will be organised in due course of time, informed NWA.
