Nagabazar gets panchayat hall-cum-parking under Smart City Mission

Colours of jubilation surrounded the residents of Nagabazar in Kohima with the inauguration of Nagabazar panchayat hall-cum-parking today by Er Kezhazelhou Theünuo, Chief Executive Officer, Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL).

Addressing the inaugural function, Er Theünuo said that the construction of Nagabazar panchayat hall-cum-parking was undertaken by KSCDL.

It was constructed under Smart City Mission with an amount of Rs 2.30 crore which includes electrification, water supply and sanitary fittings and rain water harvesting reservoir.

After the inauguration and final payment is cleared, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Operational & Management will be signed between Nagabazar Panchayat, Kohima Smart City and Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) on the basis of revenue sharing as per Smart City Mission guidelines, he said.

He said that Kohima Smart City has taken up similar community buildings in other six Municipal wards-New Market, Daklane, Midland, D Block, Kitsubozou (Chotobosti) and North Block under Slum Area Re- Development.

New Market Panchayat hall cum parking was inaugurated last year. MoU has also been signed and became functional.
The rest of Community buildings are expected to be completed before December 2023.

He hoped that these Panchayat buildings will not only benefit the concerned Panchayats financially but will bring more unity, understanding and co-operation among the communities.

Further, Er Theünuo called for timely maintenance and proper usage of this community building.

Nagabazar Panchayat Chairman, Vilasielie Solo thanked the government and KSCDL for funding Nagabazar Panchayat Hall-Cum- Parking facility. He said that Nagabazar is one of the oldest colonies of Kohima town. Solo thanked the pioneers, elders and former leaders of the colony for their selfless contribution in uplifting the colony during the trying times with perseverance and dedication.

“In comparison with other municipal wards of Kohima town, we are still lacking far behind in line of human resources and developments. However, in spite of our weakness and shortcomings, we continue to partake and extend our friendly hands in all possible ways towards our fellow wards and the government, knowing that, the show must always go on,” Solo said.

MLA Dr Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhutso, former MLA Dr Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire, former MP Khyomo Lotha and several other dignitaries also present on the occasion.

The programme was chaired by Nagabazar Panchayat Vice Chairman, Keduokienyii Huozha while Rev Kevimese Suohu, pastor Naga Bazar Baptist Church invoked God blessings. Theja Sekhose presented a special number while vote of thanks was proposed by Nagabazar Panchayat General Secretary, Zeneizokho Kire.
