Nagafy, a project launched by three Naga youths- Abeto Shohe, Kaheli Chophy and Betoka Swu, organized a T-shirt launch/fundraiser and children art connect here at Hiyo on Saturday evening.
Project Nagafy, a non-profit initiative of three Naga urban youths – Abeto Shohe (photographer and entrepreneur), Kaheli Chophy (model and entrepreneur) and Betoka Swu (activist and photographer), was formed this year with the objectives of reviving and promoting Naga culture and tradition globally and also to encourage the young generation on self-employment, utilizing their talent and creativity.
At the launching programme of the Nagafy T-shirts, Betoka Swu, said the main focus of the project is to rope in the youth, community collaborators and entrepreneurs and work towards discovering positive capacity that is in cohesion with the unique Naga history
Swu also said the idea behind the T-shirt was to pass on the Naga identity and to let other people know the proud cultural heritage of Nagas
Giving an introduction on Nagafy project, Kaheli Chophy said Nagafy is a creative project that hopes to document and encapsulate this rapid integration of cultures and project Nagaland’s contemporary culture through mediums that are easily accessible to anyone.
“While our traditional cultural practices are of outmost importance, we also feel the need to acknowledge that contemporary cultures are of symbolic value in the socio-political growth of our state. To begin with, the project seeks to photographically represent the ingenuity of Nagas in creative fields like music, art, dance and other forms of creative expressions and also identify Naga entrepreneurs who have excelled in their respective fields,” she said.
