Kohima, November 7 (MExN): A five-day Self-employment Boot Camp Training for students, unemployed youths, job seekers, and aspiring entrepreneurs was jointly conducted by YouthNet in partnership with Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO) at SABT Hall, Kohima from November 2 to 7.
According to a press release from the YouthNet Media Cell on Monday, SAYO President Metekhrielie Mejura, during the launch programme, stressed on the importance of being self-reliant and the need to promote self employment among the unemployed youths of the region. Acknowledging YouthNet for its support and assistance, he also highlighted that thousands of youth enter the job market every year but are unable to find suitable employment due to varied factors. Therefore, in such a scenario, the need for promoting self employment for the unemployed rural youth and periodic skill upgrade to keep them abreast of latest technologies need not be overstated.
Altogether 15 participants attended and availed the training programme which is jointly imparted by YouthNet in collaboration with Quest Alliance Bangalore in all districts across Nagaland with the primary objectives of mitigating the unemployment problem among the youth and providing guidance to the youth to make informed decisions of being economically self – reliant, identifying the importance and scope of self – employment and understanding the basic concept of starting a business.
Once trained appropriately, the youth will launch profitable micro-enterprises and enhance their own standards of living and thereby contribute to the overall economy of the state, the release stated.
