Altogether, 151 meritorious sportspersons from Nagaland today received cash award for the year 2024-25 during the cash award programme organised by the Directorate of Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland at Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima in commemoration of National Sports Day.
The awards was presented to the athletes who have won medals in recognised disciplines/ tournaments affiliated to the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) at the international, national and North East levels.

The award was handed over by Nagaland’s youth resources & sports advisor S. Keoshu Yimkhiung and Nagaland’s DGP Rupin Sharma.
The winners of the Inter School Athletics Meet 2025 were also felicitated at the programme.
Earlier, Yimkhiung said that the state government is in the process of drafting a new sports policy guided by National Sports Policy- Khelo Bharat Niti 2025, which reflects athletes interests, community aspirations, and our Nation’ vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
In this, he called upon the people to work together to make Nagaland a true centre of sporting excellence and shining example for the rest of the country.

He assured that the state government is fully committed to provide world class sports infrastructure and opportunities in every district.
“The government of the day is fully committed to improving and enhancing sports infrastructure and providing platforms for young sportspersons to grow and excel,” he said.
DGP said that Nagaland Police has a sports policy which is aligned to the national sport. “We will soon have recruitment in sports soon,” he said.
Let us jointly try to keep the flag of sports flying and create a better environment, he added.
Underscoring the importance of collaboration, he appealed for stronger partnership between government departments and private stakeholders, including through CSR initiatives, to create a sustainable sporting ecosystem.

Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Anthony Ngullie, commissioner & secretary for Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland.
The programme was chaired by Kethosituo Sekhose, Director, Youth Resources & Sports while vote of thanks was proposed by Megolhu Dolie, Additional Director, Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland.
