16 transportation vehicles were distributed to Farmer Producer Companies at the Directorate of Agriculture, Kohima on March 11.

Kohima, March 11 (MExN): Altogether 16 transportation vehicles were distributed under Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North-East Region MOVCDNER, (Phase IV) to Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) at the Directorate of Agriculture, Kohima by Advisor Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan on March 11.
Speaking at the programme, Advisor Mhathung Yanthan said that the distribution of transport vehicles is to support transport connectivity in reaching out the farm products to the near market. He informed that through MOVCDNER alone, the department has distributed around 50 transport vehicles, a press release received here stated.
The Department is also looking forward to give subsidy under IDAN to interested and enterprising farmers to avail the transportation vehicles so that all the produces can find market, he added.
“Farmers should not suffer in need of transportation,” Yanthan stated while encouraging them to uphold their responsibility to do justice in producing agriculture produces in the market and also to utilise the vehicles judiciously with purpose to increase productivity.
“Nagaland is a land of opportunities and has a great potential in doing business for,” he observed and urged the farmers to learn from the training initiatives and understand the dynamic of running a FPCs.
S Yongchang Phom, Director of Agriculture said that MOVCDNER is one of the schemes which offer so many opportunities to the farmers from production to marketing level. He encouraged all the CEOs/BODs to participate in the ongoing training held at the Directorate of Agriculture. Agriculture Production Commissioner & Mission Director, FOCUS-Nagaland, Wezope Kenye IAS also delivered a short speech.
The programme was chaired by Burwati Longkumer Jt Director Agriculture.
Later, training for CEOs/BOD of FPCs under Mission Organic value chain Development for North-East Region (MOVCDNER) was held on business planning, accounting & bookkeeping, marketing strategies and packaging & labelling. Briefing of the Training Programme Plan was presented by Dutta, CEO, NEON.
