Nagaland ad-hoc teachers appeal for service regularization

Kohima, April 24 (MExN): The All Nagaland Ad-hoc Teacher’s Group (ANATG) 2015 Batch has appealed the Nagaland Government to regularize the services of ad-hoc teachers from the batch.

The ANATG 2015 Batch in a press release brought forth its grievances pertaining to service regularization and informed that ad-hoc teachers have been rendering their services for 8 to 9 years with full dedication imparting quality education in the state while receiving meagre amounts of Rs. 6700/- for Primary Teacher and Rs. 8400/- for Graduate Teacher per month.

This, the group maintained, is “very less to meet the daily needs” and further demanded “equal pay for equal work.”

The group further informed that the Education Department has appointed different categories such as GT, PT, Hindi Teacher, Carpentry Instructor, Physical Education Teacher, Knitting Instructor, Language Teacher and Drawing Teachers on ad-hoc basis against regular vacancy sanctioned post on fixed pay.

The above mentioned ad-hoc teachers in the different categories who have completed 3 continuous years of service by 2015 consisting of 1166 members have fulfilled all the criteria laid down by the department by going through departmental suitability test exam on May 20, 2017. The members have also cleared all the formalities like documents spot verification and screening of documents from the P&AR department and waiting cabinet approval for service regularization, the ANATG stated.

In this connection, the ANATG release informed that it has approached and submitted several representations, memorandum and ultimatum to the government on this issue. “But till date, justice has been denied and discriminated to the cry of those thousand aggrieved teachers in Nagaland,” the ANATG stated.

As such, the group appealed the Nagaland government to take this issue on top priority and regularize their service without any further delay.

“If the government keeps on playing delay tactics which is denial of justice, the ANATG have no other option but to exercise fundamental right in the form of protest/agitation against the department,” it cautioned.
