 
                          
                  
New Delhi, July 2 (MExN): As a part of Modernisation of Police Forces (MPF), the state of Nagaland has been allotted a sum of Rs 10.74 crore for 2019-20, the parliament was told on Tuesday. In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on July 2, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, G Kishan Reddy informed that Government of India approved the implementation of the umbrella scheme of MPF in September 27, 2017.
The approved central outlay is Rs. 7,380 crore for the 3 years’ period from 2017-18 to 2019-20 and Rs 811.30 crore has been allotted for 2019-20.
The fund was part of State Action Plans (SAPs) of 25 States for the financial year 2019-20 under the sub-scheme of Assistance to States for Modernisation of Police have been approved by High Powered Committee (HPC), the MoS said.
The scheme has two verticals – Security Related Expenditure (SRE) of specific theatres & Modernisation of Police Forces.  
The MPF includes Central assistance provided to the State Governments for weapons, equipment for Forensics, Information   Technology, Communication, Training, etc.  
Three Himalayan States, namely, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh and 8 North Eastern States including Sikkim are eligible to receive financial assistance on 90:10 Centre:State sharing basis.  The remaining States are eligible for financial assistance on 60:40 Centre: State sharing basis, the reply said.
