Nagaland: ANCSU reminds Higher Education Minister on pending scholarship

Dimapur, March 4 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has submitted a reminder to the Nagaland Minister for Higher Education and Tourism, seeking the latter’s immediate intervention and necessary action concerning the pending release of the second instalment of the Post Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students for the year 2023-2024.

In a reminder to the Minister, ANCSU pointed out its November 30, 2024 appeal urging the state government to engage with the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, for the early release and disbursement of the remaining 25% of the scholarship funds.

However, it submitted that there has been no positive development even after the lapse of more than 90 days, it added.

The ANCSU also expressed its “extensive discontentment and frustration” with the department concerned and the State Government for failing to address the needs of the student community with the seriousness it deserves.

Further, the union conveyed its dissatisfaction with the unfair treatment towards students, asserting that it would not remain a “mute observer” when the welfare of the student fraternity is “deliberately disregarded.”

The reminder, signed by ANCSU President Tenyesinlo Bukh and General Secretary Kivinoka A. Sema, expressed hope that it would draw the attention of the Minister and prompt swift action to address the grievances of the student community, ensuring the disbursement of the pending scholarship instalment without further delay to “avoid any confrontation.”
