Nagaland, according to a state government official, has created ‘history’ by arranging the longest ever train journey in India to bring back its stranded citizen from outside.
The distance covered by Shramik Special Train from Trivandrum, Kerala to Dimapur, which started its journey on June 9, is more than India’s longest train route of Vivek Express from Kanyakumari to Digbugrah, maintained Nagaland Commissioner & Secretary, Works & Housing Dinesh Kumar in a Tweet on June 11.
As per information given on Indian Railways’ website on June 11, 15905/15906 Vivek Express from Kanyakumari to Digbugrah covers a distance of 4209 kilometres and takes 79:40 hours (over 3 complete days) to reach. The return journey from Digbugrah to Kanyakumari takes 82:50 hours. It is designated as the longest train route for passengers in India.
Earlier, Kumar, who is the Chief Nodal Officer Inter State Movement, informed that the third Special train from South India for Nagaland has departed from Trivandrum in the afternoon of June 9 and expected to arrive at Dimapur Railway Station on June 13.
The train is carrying approximately 1200 stranded persons of Nagaland in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, he added in a twitter update on June 9.
