Kohima, February 7 (MExN): The Assam Rifles has carried out a series of civic and welfare activities across Nagaland in recent days, alongside a senior-level review of operational preparedness in the North-East, according to official releases.
In New Jalukie village under Peren district, Assam Rifles facilitated the deployment of an Earth Moving Plant (EMP) to improve roadside drainage infrastructure.
The enhanced drainage system is expected to improve road durability, ease vehicular and pedestrian movement, and contribute to better sanitation and public convenience.
In a separate initiative, Assam Rifles personnel donated blood to a five-year-old cancer patient undergoing treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima.
The patient required urgent blood and platelet transfusion due to critically low haemoglobin and platelet levels.
Following an emergency request from the hospital blood centre, personnel volunteered immediately, ensuring timely life-saving support.
The activities, the release stated, reflect the Force’s continued commitment to community welfare and strengthening its bond with local communities through responsive and compassionate service.
