Kohima, May 31 (MExN): The Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Secretariat will organise a one-day joint orientation programme for members of the Assembly's financial committees on June 5.
According to an official notification, the programme will be held at the K Shikhu Conference Hall of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
Members of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Committee on Public Undertakings (COPU) and Estimates Committee will participate in the orientation programme.
The initiative is aimed at sensitising legislators on the mandate, working procedures, powers and functions of the financial committees, which play a key role in legislative oversight of public expenditure and government finances.
Resource persons from the Office of the Accountant General, Nagaland, the Finance Department of the Government of Nagaland and the Parliamentary Research and Information Support for Democracies (PRIDE), Lok Sabha, will address the participants during the programme.
The Assembly Secretariat has requested all members of the three financial committees to attend the orientation programme.
