Nagaland Assembly to host CPA India Region Zone-III

Kohima, July 20 (MExN): The Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Speaker and Chairman of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone-III, Sharingain Longkumer officially called on Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla on July 20. Longkumer congratulated him on being elected as the Speaker for a second term, “a rare achievement that speaks volumes of his pragmatic approach and knowledge to parliamentary democracy and the support and the high regard that he receives from all corners of the political spectrum.”

In the discussion, Birla mentioned that he is happy to learn that Nagaland Assembly has come forward to host the next conference of the CPA India Region Zone-III after Mizoram this year. He also delighted on his interest to visit the State on the coming months. 

A press release received here stated that the primary agenda of the meeting was to deliberate on suitable dates for hosting the upcoming 21st annual CPA conference. 

The annual conference brings together legislative leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the nation, aims to foster collaboration, exchange best practices, and address pressing legislative challenges. 

The discussions between Sharingain Longkumer and Om Birla focused on aligning schedules and ensuring maximum participation from all relevant parties, it stated. 

The visit concluded with a shared commitment to continued communication and cooperation, with both leaders expressing optimism about the outcomes of their deliberations. Further details regarding the dates and agenda of the annual conference will be announced in due course, it added.
