Kohima, June 2 (MExN): The tour operators of Nagaland have constituted the Nagaland Association of Tour Operators (NATO) during a ‘recent’ meeting held at Hotel Japfü, Kohima.

During the meeting, a press release received here stated that the stakeholders present discussed some areas where the association aims to focus such as: develop and promote tourism and travel industry in Nagaland with the highest standards of service, ethics and professionalism; look into the welfare of the travel and hospitality local stakeholders and to protect them from exploitations; explore avenues and opportunities to benefit local communities through sustainable tourism; facilitate the inflow of tourist into the state of Nagaland with regards to formalities, logistics and experiences; organize capacity building and HRD programs, publicity, attend conventions and marketing platforms, awareness and advocacies for stakeholders and local communities; and adhere and support to public policies and implementation, make representations on behalf of the association which will help promote and develop tourism.

The first team of office bearers for four-year tenure was elected with president: Kejaroko Pieru; Vice President: Vimeto Vakha; General Secretary: Veluzo Tetseo; Asst General Secretary: Limasunep Alinger; Treasurer: Khriesinuo Ngacu; and Info & Publicity Secy: Veshehu Kezo. 

“Besides the challenges faced by the travel and hospitality industry whilst recovering from the COVID pandemic, the members of the newly formed association pledge to work and promote Nagaland into a sustainable and eco-tourism destination,” NATO president, Kejaroko Pieru and general secretary, Veluzo Tetseo stated in the release.
