
DIMAPUR, JANUARY 3 (MExN): Nagaland has been selected as the Best Performing State in overall food grain production among Category-III States (whose annual total food grains production is less than one million tons). This was informed in a letter from Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar written to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio dated December 19, 2012. It was informed that the Krishi Karman Awards have been instituted since 2010-11 to reward the best performing States in production of rice, wheat, course cereals, pulses and total food grains.
Pawar informed the Nagaland CM that the Krishi Karman Awards for 2011-12 have been finalized and Nagaland has been selected as the Best Performing State in overall food grain production among Category-III States. Pawar has in this regard congratulated the CM, State Agriculture Minister and the officials of the Agriculture Department of Nagaland for their dedicated efforts in supporting farmers with technologies and services that has enabled the State to achieve this milestone.
The Krishi Karman Awards would be presented by President of India on 15th January, 2013 at 11.30 AM at New Delhi. The CM has been told to make it convenient to attend the function and receive the Award along with Agriculture Minister, Agriculture Production Commissioner and Director of Agriculture. Meanwhile, in a separate press note the NPF informed that the Krishi Karman Award carries a trophy, a citation and cash award of Rs. 2.00 crore.
