Dimapur, July 10 (MExN): The Unlock 2 across Nagaland for one week, as announced by the state government, will begin from July 11-17 with more relaxations in existing lockdown measures.
During the period, all business establishments dealing in all kinds of goods will be allowed to open from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, state Chief Secretary J Alam said in a notification on Saturday.
The Chief Secretary also said that long-distance trains will be permitted to stop at Dimapur railway station during the period. However, all the inbound passengers should be asymptomatic and would be required to produce certificates proving that they have received both doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
“Inter-district movement is allowed subject to the person(s) being asymptomatic and having completed their COVID-19 vaccination (both doses taken) and subject to adherence to COVID-19 appropriate behaviours,” the notification stated, while adding that separate standard operating procedures (SOPs) with regard to inter-state and inter-district movement would be issued by the state Home Department.
As per the notification, outdoor sports activities other than competitions will be permitted subject to the attendance of not more than 100 persons and adherence to COVID-19 appropriate behaviour and all the applicable SOPs issued from time to time.
Bus service, intra and inter-district taxi service and pillion riding on two-wheelers will however; continue to remain suspended.
According to the notification, the decision to initiate Unlock 2.0 in the state was taken during a meeting of the state’s High Powered Committee (HPC) on COVID-19 which was chaired by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on July 8.
The HPC reviewed the COVID-19 situation in the state and noted that the state’s average COVID-19 positivity rate in the last seven days was showing a declining trend, but the positivity rate still continues to remain above 5 percent.
However, since there has been improvement in the overall COVID-19 situation as reflected by various parameters— significant decline in the total number of active cases, hospitalisation cases and the number of persons requiring oxygen support across the state, the HPC considered further relaxations and opening of more activities while continuing with the existing lockdown measures, the notification added.
