Nagaland Bihari Samaj to celebrate Chhath Puja on November 7-8

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 6 (MExN): The Nagaland Bihari Samaj has announced the celebration of Chhath Puja, an ancient festival dedicated to the Sun God, Surya, and his wife, Usha. The community will observe the festival with devotion and enthusiasm on November 7 and 8, a press release issued by Advocate YP Gupta, Vice president, Nagaland Bihari Samaj informed. 

Chhath Puja is a time for reflection and gratitude, where devotees express appreciation for the Sun's life-giving energy and seek blessings for health and prosperity. The festival is marked by rigorous rituals, including fasting and offering prayers at riverbanks, which symbolize purity and devotion.

This year’s main celebration will take place at the bank of River Dhansiri, near the ISBT in Purana Bazar, Dimapur. The event will begin at 3 PM on November 7 and continue the following morning at 5 AM on November 8. The festivities will include traditional songs, dances, and communal meals, and the Bihari Samaj invites all community members, along with friends and well-wishers, to participate in the rituals.
