Nagaland BJP ‘accepts defeat with all humility’

Kohima, November 12 (MExN): The BJP Nagaland State Unit, while acknowledging  the victory of NDPP and PDA’s consensus candidate Medo Yhokha and Independent candidate, Yangseo Sangtam in the recent bye-election in Nagaland, said that the Party the accepts defeat of its candidate with “all humility.”

Yhokha won from 14th Southern Angami-1 Assembly Constituency while Yangseo was the winner of the 60th Pungro-Kiphire A/C in the recent bye-election held on November 3.

“The BJP Nagaland State Unit understands that this is a time for introspection and retrospection, and not a time for playing blame-games. The party accepts defeat with all humility,” a press release from the Party stated. 

“Despite our best efforts, the electorates of the constituency have given their mandate to the Independent candidate and we respect the wishes of the majority,” the state BJP said regarding the defeat of its candidate Lirimong Sangtam from Pungro-Kiphire A/C.

“Nevertheless, this will not deter the PDA government from working towards the all-round development of the people of all corners of the state, even though they may not have voted for us,” added the release from its Media Cell.

Stating that the PDA Government is one of inclusiveness in terms of bringing all-round development and delivering the goods to the people, it said, “We remain firmly committed to our party manifesto and the Common Minimum Programme of the PDA Government.”

“We wish the best to the victorious candidates and we hope that they will live up to the expectations and the trust the electorate have reposed in them,” it added.
