Nagaland BJP issue to be resolved very soon

Dimapur, July 16 (MExN):Three State BJP legislators who arrived at Dimapur Airport on July 16 expressed gratitude and confidence in the BJP central leadership and were optimistic that the internal BJP issue would be settled very soon in the larger interest of the party.


Deputy Chief Minister Nagaland Y Patton, Health and Family Welfare Minister, S Pangyu Phom and PHED Minister Jacob Zhimomi arrived from Delhi on July 16. 


According to a DIPR report, the legislators said that a complaint was filed by 10 district presidents of the state including senior BJP workers, senior members from the Mahila Morcha for replacing the present BJP President Temjen Imna Along, to the National BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav, during his visit to Nagaland on June 25.


The State BJP legislators reached Delhi on July 12 as directed by the central leadership and held a series of meetings on July 13 with party leaders led by National President, JP Nadda and others to discuss and the need for settling the issue, it said. 


During the meeting, the legislators asserted that they have to listen to the voice of the party workers as they were elected by them and concurred that under the leadership of the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, all the 12 BJP legislators has been assigned with the responsibility of looking after various departments.


Consequently, they support the BJP tradition of ‘One man one Post’ and majority of BJP legislators are of view that the state President should be a senior BJP Karyakarta (worker) and non legislator who can devote full time to the party affairs, the report said. The central leaders gave a patient hearing and assured them that the issue would be resolved very soon, it added, quoting the legislators.
